Aamir Khan turns down Adlabs’ three-film offer

Kareena Kapoor may have been ecstatic signing the three-film deal with Adlabs, but Aamir Khan does not feel the same way. The news is that Aamir Khan has turned down a three-film offer worth Rs. 60 crores from Adlabs apparently because there was no proper script in place.

Money has not been the priority for the actor who is said to have charged Rs 20 crore for ‘Ghajini’. Previously Adlabs offered him Rs. 50 crores for the three film deal but when they saw that the actor was not too keen they raised the amount to Rs. 60 crore in a hope to draw his interest. However, they did not have any story, or script in hand when they met Aamir. They simply told Aamir that he would have the freedom to choose three directors of his choice and Adlabs would back those projects.

Aamir refused the offer politely telling them that he does not do film just for money and that the script was of paramount importance to him.

Family drama on the sets of ‘Singh is Kinng’

Produce Vipul Shah has come up with a novel idea to keep the cast of his film ‘Singh is Kinng’ happy. All his cast members have taken their families along for the two-month-long schedule at Goa Coast in Australia.

Katrina Kaif is staying along with her family, her mom and sisters, in the apartments at Q1, world’s tallest residential tower. Vipul Shah and Akshay Kumar are also there with their families, following which there is a considerable kids group on the sets. The ‘bachcha party’ includes Akshay’s six-year-old son Aarav, Vipul’s sons six-year-old Aryaman and five-year-old Maurya and kids of the line producers.

Talking about it Vipul says, “It becomes extremely difficult to stay away from your family for over two months. We have a start-to-finish schedule at Gold Coast, and that’s when I asked everyone to bring their families along.”

John Abraham - The fitness freak

You would think he doesn’t need to go on a fitness drive anymore, bulging as he is with biceps and triceps. But John Abraham can’t have enough of fitness- and can’t seem to stop sending out those public awareness messages that gladden the health lobby. The brawny Bollywood hero, after playing the role of a nicotine- craving chain smoker speeding down the highway of doom in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘No Smoking’, has now signed up as the face of the Mumbai Marathon 2008, scheduled to be held in January. And he is not stopping at that- the easy rider has also got himself chosen as the brand ambassador for the English Premiere League, and is reportedly thrilled to be associated with a game he has played since childhood. And all this when memories of a leaf-clad John endorsing vegetarianism are still fresh in most minds. Way to go, John!

2007 brings sports and Bollywood together

2007 saw them together at every opportune moment. Be it SRK adding glamour with her OSO co-star Deepika Padukone at 20-20 cricket or Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the sets of John Abraham’s ‘Aashayein’- the two worlds of Sports and Bollywood are comfortably merging together.

The formula had been tried in box-office disasters like “Stumped“, “Say Salaam India” and “Hattrick” that had sports as a theme. There have also been successful ones like Prakash Jha’s “Hip Hip Hurray“, Ashutosh Gowariker’s “Lagaan“, Nagesh Kukunoor’s “Iqbaal” and Mansoor Khan’s “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander“.

But never before 2007, did Bollywood and sports blend so well. This year’s biggest blockbuster so far - “Chak De! India” - was clearly a watershed sports film in Hindi cinema sans any romance. This true-blue sports film grossed more than Rs.550 million in India in its first five weeks. In Yash Raj Film’s big-budget “Ta Ra Rum Pum“, Saif Ali Khan was seen enchanting the audiences on the race track. Then there was “Apne” a family drama based on boxing, which did fairly well. Yet to come is much awaited John Abraham, Arshad Warsi and Bipasha Basu starrer “Dhan Dana Dhan Goal” based on football ready for release on Nov 23.

In the que are “Raaste“, John Abraham’s next after “Dhan Dana Dhan Goal”, Subhash Ghai’s “Cycle Kick” directed by Shashi Sudigala, comedy king David Dhawan’s “Hook Ya Crook” and newcomer Sanjay Chauhan, who directs “Lahore” about kickboxing. A multi-starrer about football - “Mazhab” that reportedly stars Nana Patekar playing the coach of a team comprising Viveik Oberoi, Suniel Shetty, Arjun Rampal, Sohail Khan, Bobby and Aftab Shivdasani is also on the avail.

Why are Neha Dhupia, Amrita Arora and Ashish angry?

The lead actors of the film ‘Rama Rama Kya Hai Drama’ are angry with the makers of the films as they had not been informed of the fact that some newcomers would be the part of the film too. The actors announced that they would boycott the music release because of which the event had to be called off by the producers. They have also decided not to promote the film at all.

An irate Aashish Choudhary said,” I spotted a few new faces in the promos. Chandrakant Singh has shot sequences with them behind our back. How can I promote a film if I’m not aware of the final product?”

On the other hand, Director Singh is surprised that the lead actors should be insecure of some newcomers. He says, “I have shot with some newcomers but they are just supporting characters in the film. The plot of my film still revolves around the lead pairs- Amrita Arora and Ashish Choudhary, Neha Dhupia and Rajpal Yadav and Rati Agnihotri and Anupam Kher.”

Himesh Reshammiya humming all the way

Soon after the release of his debut movie, ‘Aap Ka Suroor’, actor-singer Himesh Reshammiya has been flooded with offers. First, Satish Kaushik signed Himesh to play Rishi Kapoor’s part in his remake of Subhash Ghai’s 1977 musical blockbuster ‘Karz’, in which Reshammiya will perform on his own songs (of course sans cap).

Again, Pooja Bhatt has picked him up for her 30-crore film ‘Kajraare’ being made in Morocco, Europe and Pakistan. Last but not the least, John Matthew Mathan has signed him up for his new musical ‘A Love Shshtory’ opposite former Miss India Niharika Singh. Himesh will be playing a Mumbai Tapori in the movie and Mathan wants Himesh to get the slang and swagger of the Tapori right and perfect. Well, All The Best Himesh!!

Aki’s success story

With three consecutive hits in a single year, who can be happier at the moment than our very own Akshay Kumar?! His success story needs no introduction coz’ after “Namaste London”and “Hey Baby”, its time to celebrate yet again as his latest flick “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” has been declared a hit too.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa is a story of a couple (played by Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja) who settle in their ancestral haveli which is supposedly haunted. In comes Akshay, to free the house from all evil spirits. Though this Priyadarshan film has a typical style of comedy with known faces like Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani, Akshay is surely the perkiest of the lot.

The songs of this much speculative film have a mass appeal. In fact they have not only topped the Indian charts but also found the no. 7 place in the U.K. top 10 chartbusters. In the first two days alone, this film has done a business of more than 6 crore rupees outside India?!

Though aki admits to work hard and not think about giving a hit or a flop, his success story this year has given him and all his fans a reason to rejoice!

Kapoor kids awaiting success of “SAWARIYAA”

It’s difficult to hit the headlines if you have put just one step into this ever increasing Bollywood business but if your film belongs to one of the top five film makers of the Hindi film industry, you are sure to grab all eyeballs.

This is the story of the “cute” onscreen couple Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, who are exceedingly busy these days attending press conferences and social dos…all for their film, “Saawariyaa”.

Due to release just before Diwali, this Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has already raised hopes with its lavishly shot film promos. Though the crew is unwilling to reveal the plot of the film, it surely seems to be a must watch.

In fact a month before it hits the theatres, the songs of “Sawariyaa” are already a hit with music lovers….and for the two star kids there is nothing to worry ‘coz by now they have thousands of fan following.

We can now just wait and watch if this film can repeat the magic of Bhansali’s “Black” or “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”.

Kareena Kapoor and Saif ali together?

No matter how much our stars crib for privacy, the gossipmongers just won’t stop buzzing. The latest grapevine has it the that Bollywood Bebo, Kareena Kapoor and the “Chote Nawab” Saif Ali Khan, have been seeing each other for quite some time now.

The dou were seen together for the first time at the Lakme India Fashion Week which was held in Mumbai recently. In fact they were quite at ease in each others’ company. While talking to the much speculative media, Saif admitted saying, “We are together”.

While Kareena preferred keeping silent, it was apparent that her relationship with Shahid had come to an end. Saif who has been linked up with many other actresses after his divorce with wife Amrita Singh, did not seem to care for anybody’s reactions!

Many say it might be a publicity gimmick to promote their film “Tashan” which is ready for release, but the fact that the two have found happiness with each other cannot be denied. Recently Kareena has bought a flat in Khar area while Saif in Bandra. The distance between the two houses is just about 3 kilometers which goes on to consolidate that the two shining stars of tinsel Ville might finally become an off screen couple.

Why Preity Zinta envies Manisha Koirala?

Preity Zinta is currently working in Jhanu Barua’s ‘Har Pal’. For the movie, the director requires a child to play Preity’s childhood days but finding the right face for the role has become a problem, coz they need a child who resembles Preity, has talents and above all, has prominent dimples on both her cheeks. Pretty girls with dimple on one cheek are still found but dimple on both the cheeks is a rarity. One option was Ayesha Kapoor (of Black fame) but her image after ‘Black’ is too strong. The shooting for the childhood portion of the film is on hold until the right girl is found.

“And we’ve to find her fast,” Preity is desperate, “I really envy Manisha Koirala. In Khamoshi: The Musical. Sanjay Leela Bhansali found a girl who was not only a pint-sized replica of Manisha but also as talented.”

Salman Khan - Madame Tassauds not for me

Salman Khan will always remain the same: Unpredictable, unconventional, stubborn and as always popular. The actor got the honour of being the fourth Indian Actor to be featured at the Madame Tussuads Wax Museum in London, but the actor has done what could be least expected of anyone. He refused to have his wax statue at Madame Tussauds, London. Before Salman, only Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan, among all other Bollywood stars, have got this honour.

Salman who is currently shooting in Austria for Subhash Ghai’s forthcoming film ‘Yuvraj’ is not available for comment. However his business manager, Vikas Kapoor, has confirmed the news saying, “Yes, Salman has refused the Madame Tussuads offer. He does not want his wax statue to be displayed at the Madame Tussauds as he is not interested in it. Though it is considered as a big honour for people who are selected for Madame Tussuads, Salman considers his fan following as his biggest honour”.

Amrita Arora - Usman Split??

Amrita Arora, the sexy bombshell of bollywood who is the younger sister of gorgeous Malaika Arora, is on the verge of splitting with her cricketer boyfriend Usman Afzal, who plays county cricket in England. The reason for the break up is her newfound love for the model Sahil Shroff, with whom she has been discussing movies and is very impressed with his taste in this field. Amu has also been very impressed with the cute look of the new man and has been discussing with her friends about this.

Usman Afzal, who plays the county cricket in England, when came to know about this liaison, even paid a surprise visit to his beloved recently in Mumbai to catch her with the new man, but destiny favored Amrita, as at that time she was having lunch with her parents and not with Sahil.

Sahil Shroff, though has known Amrita Arora for a long time but was never in touch with the actress and started keeping in touch only after Prashant Sachdeva (who played the character of Jai in Ramu’s imminently forgettable ‘ Aag’) introduced him to Amrita at a party. Since then Amrita and Sahil have kept in touch through phone and even went out for dinner some times. Recently, Amria Arora and Sahil Shroff were spotted together at a Bandra restaurant, where they were having their dinner.

However, this is not for the first time that Amrita Arora has ditched her old boyfriends for the new one. Earlier too, she had done it and the names of her ex boyfriends include the types of Kamaal Khan, Ashmit Patel (Amisha Patel’s brother) and the handsome hunk Upen Patel(currently busy with the gorgeous Shamita Singha).

Though Amrita Arora’s bollywood career has not taken off in any major way but some of her item numbers in bollywood biggies have been super duper hits. For instance, her number ‘ dilli ki shardi’ had been a major hit and given her the crown of sexiest performer of an item number.

Work ‘n’ Workout come first for Amisha Patel

Amisha Patel, while shooting for Kunal Kohli’s film, pulled a leg muscle. But never mind with the injury and pain, Amisha still continued with her daily workouts. It was only when the trainer asked her why she was in such agony that she informed him of her injury. Worried about her health, the trainer insisted that the lady should rest for a couple of days before she starts shooting again. She followed the instructions religiously but after a couple of days’ rest, she was back at the gym with a venegeance. Talk about sweating it out.
